Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary field that utilizes the techniques and technologies of various biological fields such as Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, and Immunology to solve various biological problems cost-effectively. Tackle these problems with the help of biological systems and organisms, including bacteria, yeast, and plants, to carry out particular functions or generate valuable substances. 

Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology: It is a three-year undergraduate program. This course will provide knowledge on important cellular and bi-molecular processes of the living organisms and how to utilize them to develop biological science technologies that make the biotechnology field. This course also builds the research and development aptitude in students which is one of the key areas in biotechnology.

Eligible requirement for Bachelor in Biotechnology: For an undergraduate course, candidates completed their 10+2 education with medical stream. Additionally, they should secure a minimum of 50 percent marks.

Overview of Course Curriculum: The Bachelor of Biotechnology covers various following subjects in 3 years divided into 6 semesters:

  • 1st Semester: Biochemistry-I, Microbiology-I, Communicative English, Chemistry
  • 2nd Semester: Biochemistry-II, Microbiology-II, Instrumentation, Cell Biology
  • 3rd Semester: Immunology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Enzymology
  • 4th Semester: Basic Bioinformatics, Genetic Engineering, Fundamentals of Bioprocess Technology, Cancer Biology
  • 5thSemester: Ecology and Environmental Biotechnology, Fundamental of Animal and Plant Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology
  • 6th Semester: Research Methodology, Biostatistics and Ethics, Patenting and Bio-Entrepreneurship

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th  and 5thsemester have Seminar/Paper presentations and 6th semester includes a project work and thesis presentation.
